Get Help Finding Organizations

Searching by County or Region

You can search either by County or Region, but not by both. If you have specified both county and region, region will be ignored. For better search results, try these tips:

  • Read how regions are defined for this site.
  • Occasionally this site has mapped the wrong zip code to county—try searching by region or organization name instead.
  • Leave Type and Name blank and only use them to restrict your search if you get too many results.

Searching by Name

If you know the name of the organization you are looking for, follow these steps:

  1. Leave the county, region, and type fields blank
  2. In the name box, put only one or two words of the organization's legal name
  3. Click the search button

Example 1: if you are looking for United Way of the Columbia-Willamette, try leaving County, Region and Type blank and put United Way in the Name box. This will bring up a short list of all organizations with United Way in their name.

Example 2: if you are looking for TACS, try leaving County, Region and Type blank and put TACS in the Name box. This will bring up a short list of all organizations with TACS in their name. Remember, if you do not get any results, TACS is probably an acronym, so you would try using the organization's longer (legal) name of Technical Assistance for Community Services instead.

Other tips:

  • Only include a County, Region or Type if you want to restrict your search or if the list of names you get back is too long.
  • Remember that the organization is often listed under its legal name, not any abbreviated names or initials by which it might be more commonly known.

Searching by Type

Try more than one type—many organizations have more than one purpose and might easily fall under more than one type, but only one has been chosen to classify their organization.
